The summer can be divided into two periods: jangma, a rainy period
during the early summer months, and hanyorum,
a hot and humid period in late summer. Most of the annual precipitation
occurs during June and
July.

Autumn
In autumn, there is much sunlight and the air is crisp. This is the transitional season between the
hot, humid summer and the cold, dry winter months. In
September, Koreans enjoy the season of harvest, Chuseok.
Chuseok is probably the most important of national holidays in Korea. It is celebrated as a harvest festival and
often referred
to as the Korean version of the American Thanksgiving.

Winter
The winters in Korea can be quite bitter, and the cold
reaches the northern regions as early as October.
January is the coldest month in Korea. There is
snowfall in the country, though it rarely accumulates for
long, if at all. Nonetheless, Korea provides excellent opportunities for skiing
and snowboarding.
